Frameworks: What are they?

Frameworks - What are they, really?

As you write your thesis, you'd probably encounter the "Theoretical Framework" and the "Conceptual Framework" and then ask yourself, what am I supposed to write here?
These frameworks are among the most important sections of your document; and perhaps the least paid attention to. These two things are so important only because these determine how your thesis is supposed to work out.

So what really are they?

The Theoretical Framework refers to a law or theory in the field of study which is going to be implemented in order for your research to make sense. This is a guiding principle which would help your thesis be able to understand something in a scientific manner.

Selecting the proper theoretical framework for your study is essential towards a better understanding and analysis of what the focal point is. This also affects the kind of conceptual framework which would be applied.

On the other hand, the Conceptual Framework refers to the process which the entirety of the thesis would undergo to reach its goals. It is usually written with a visual representation similar to a flowchart. In essence, this identifies in part how you as a researcher plan to arrive at your results.

In essence, the Theoretical Framework pertains to how your thesis is going to view things whereas the Conceptual Framework pertains to the process of how your thesis is going to implement the theory throughout its completion.
